2023 Signal Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir Mendocino Ridge, USA
Signal Ridge Vineyard's extreme elevation and distinctive estate soils create a refined, elegant expression of mountain Pinot Noir. The wine's purity is anchored by precise acidity and subtle raspberry and cherry notes, while savory hints of sandalwood and pine weave through a lingering finish. Lively yet refined, with perfect mid-weight balance, the 2023 Signal Ridge Pinot Noir is a stunning testament to this extraordinary mountain site.
96 Points, Decanter "You won’t believe the depth of flavour and textural tension in this transparent, ruby-orange-hued Pinot Noir until you put your nose in the glass and take a sip. Medium-bodied and impeccably balanced, it treads the line beautifully between vivid fruit and taut acidity, framed by supple, polished tannins. Black cherry, blood orange and pomegranate fruit lead the way, interwoven with forest floor nuance, conifer, cedarwood and a refined underbrush character. The finish is long and mineral, marked by black sea salt and wet slate. From Signal Ridge Vineyard, perched at 835 metres in the Mendocino Ridge AVA, this wine is a testament to the site’s singular terroir. Owned by Roger Scommegna and crafted by winemaker Joanna Wells. Drinking window: 2025 - 2040." ~ Jonathan Cristaldi
93 Points, Wine Spectator "An elegant and pure version of Pinot Noir that relies on subtle notes of cherry and raspberry coulis carried by pinpoint acidity and dusted with savory, pine and sandalwood hints through the sneakily long finish. As unadorned as you can get. Drink now through 2031. 225 cases made." ~ James Molesworth
